The Vandeikya Women's Multipurpose Cooperative Society has emerged as a powerful force for women's empowerment in rural Benue State. Since its establishment five years ago, the cooperative has trained over 1,000 women in various vocational skills, provided microfinance loans, and implemented community development projects that have improved the quality of life in participating communities.

Members of the cooperative are involved in diverse economic activities, including food processing, textile production, poultry farming, and vegetable gardening. The cooperative operates a revolving loan scheme that provides members with small loans at affordable interest rates, enabling them to start or expand their businesses.

The cooperative's chairwoman noted that the organisation has not only improved the economic status of its members but has also strengthened social cohesion within communities. She called on the state government and development organisations to provide more support for women's cooperatives as vehicles for grassroots economic development.
