Security forces have commenced joint operations in Guma and Logo local government areas of Benue State following reports of rising tensions in the areas. The operation, which involves personnel from the Nigerian Army, Police, and Civil Defence Corps, is aimed at restoring normalcy and ensuring the safety of residents.
The Force Commander stated that the operation would be sustained until lasting peace is achieved in the affected communities. He called on residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing useful intelligence and reporting suspicious activities.
Displaced residents from affected communities are being accommodated at temporary relief camps, where humanitarian organisations are providing food, medical care, and other essential supplies. The state government has also released emergency funds to support relief efforts in the affected areas.
