As the date for local government elections in Benue State draws closer, political parties have intensified their campaigns and preparations across all 23 local government areas. The Benue State Independent Electoral Commission has assured residents that all necessary arrangements are in place for free, fair, and credible elections.
Campaign activities have been particularly intense in Gboko, Otukpo, and Makurdi, where candidates are canvassing for support through rallies, town hall meetings, and door-to-door campaigns. Women and youth groups have been particularly active in mobilising voters ahead of the polls.
Security agencies have also stepped up their presence across the state to ensure a peaceful electoral process. The Commissioner of Police has warned against any form of electoral violence and urged politicians to play by the rules.
