The Idoma International Carnival held in Otukpo has once again demonstrated the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the Idoma people. The carnival, which has grown in stature over the years, attracted visitors from across Nigeria and the diaspora for a week of cultural celebrations, traditional performances, and artistic displays.

Highlights of the carnival included colourful masquerade processions, traditional wrestling competitions, and exhibitions of Idoma arts and crafts. A special symposium was held on the history and migration patterns of the Idoma people, featuring presentations by scholars and historians from various universities.

The Och'Idoma, the paramount ruler of the Idoma people, commended the organisers and called on the younger generation to take pride in their cultural identity. He emphasised the importance of cultural tourism as a driver of economic development in the Idoma nation and Benue State as a whole.
