Benue State athletes have made the state proud at the ongoing National Sports Festival, winning medals in athletics, wrestling, and handball. The state's contingent, which includes both established athletes and promising newcomers, has exceeded expectations with their performances across multiple sporting disciplines.

Benue's wrestling team was particularly dominant, winning gold medals in several weight categories. The state's athletics team also performed admirably, with standout performances in the 100m, 400m, and relay events. The handball team reached the semi-finals after a series of impressive victories in the group stage.

The Director of Sports in Benue State expressed pride in the athletes' achievements and promised that the state government would continue to invest in sports development. Plans are underway to upgrade sporting facilities across the state and establish grassroots talent identification programmes in all 23 local government areas.
