Benue State is set to receive significant foreign investment in the agro-processing sector following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the state government and an international consortium. The consortium plans to establish processing plants for soybeans, rice, and cassava in strategic locations across the state.

The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry described the investment as a game-changer for the state's economy. He noted that the processing plants would add value to agricultural produce that is currently exported in raw form, creating jobs and increasing the income of local farmers.

The investment is expected to create over 5,000 direct and indirect jobs, with processing plants planned for Makurdi, Otukpo, and Katsina-Ala. The state government has pledged to provide the necessary land, infrastructure, and policy support to ensure the success of the project.
